Police seek witnesses following crash in Merrylands

Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash in Merrylands last night, NSW Police say.

Just before 9.40pm today, a man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was riding a motorised scooter along Military Road, when he veered onto the correct side of the road.

At the same time, a man, believed to be aged in his 20s, was driving along the same road when the two collided.

Police have been told the driver of the vehicle and witnesses went to the assistance of the older man, when the driver was assaulted.

The man on the scooter was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before he was taken to Westmead Hospital, believed to be in a stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle did not require treatment.

Officers attached to Holroyd Local Area Command attended and are investigating the incident.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact Crime Stopers.
