Police seek witnesses to assault in Alice Springs 25 May

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to an assault in which a man physically assaulted a woman in a car park of a licensed premises in Alice Springs earlier this month.

Just after 7:30pm on Friday May 15, a 36-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were standing in the car park of a licensed premises on Undoolya Road when it is alleged the man struck the woman with force to the head.

The force caused the woman to fall, hitting a parked car becoming unconscious on the ground, where it is further alleged the man dragged her into a navy blue 200 series Toyota 4WD and drove off.

Police inquiries resulted in the arrest of the 36-year-old man, who was charged with one count of Assault, however police continue to call for witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident.

CCTV footage from the area show a number of vehicles driving in and out of the car park at the time the incident occurred.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the assault to contact them on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and reference PROMIS number 9303186.
