Police seek witnesses to Collingwood carjacking

Melbourne Embona Taskforce detectives are appealing for public assistance and are hoping to identify a man following a carjacking in Collingwood earlier this month.

Police have been told a man parked his car in a car park on Mason Street when he was approached by an unknown man just before 8am on Thursday 8 August.

The man produced a tomahawk and made demands for the victim's car.

The victim, a man aged in his 60s ran from the scene and raised the alarm.

The offender fled the scene in the victim's car, a red Holden GTS sedan, registration BASH17.

The stolen vehicle was located the following day on Flockheart Street in Abbotsford.

The offender is described as being aged in his mid 30s, 180cm tall with a solid build.

He was wearing a grey hooded jumper with the number 89 on the back.

Investigators have released an image of a man that may be able to assist with their enquiries.
