Westgate Highway Patrol officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding a hit and run collision in Newport last night.
Emergency services were called to Blackshaws Road about 11pm to reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
The vehicle did not stop at the scene.
The yet-to-be identified male pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone with footage of the collision.
