Police seek witnesses to speed camera car rammed

Greensborough Highway Patrol members are appealing for witnesses after a traffic camera vehicle was deliberately rammed in Wollert early yesterday morning.

An unknown four-wheel drive crashed numerous times into the speed camera vehicle that was parked alongside Craigieburn Road East before driving off about 1.40am on Monday, 13 June.

The camera operator was not physically injured during the incident however his car sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.

It's believed the vehicle involved was a black or dark grey older-model Nissan Navara single-cab utility with a tray.

The front end of the vehicle would likely have sustained damage during the incident.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw a vehicle matching the description in the area around the time of the incident

Panel beaters are also urged to keep an eye out for vehicles that come into their workshop that require repairs to the front end that match the vehicle police are trying to locate.

An image has been released of a man that may be able to assist officers with their enquiries.

Police have also released an image of the damaged speed camera vehicle.
