Police seize cannabis during traffic intercept at Moonie

Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad Rural have located more than $40,000 worth of cannabis during a routine traffic intercept on the Leichhardt Highway at Moonie overnight.

Around 6pm, officers were carrying out patrols when they intercepted a Nissan Patrol on the Leichhardt Highway.

A 55-year-old Wulkuraka man is expected to appear in the Dalby Magistrates Court July 2 on one count of possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 2 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3 and producing dangerous drugs.

MOCS Rural, Plain Clothes Senior Constable Jim Doyle said, members of the public are asked to continue to support their fight against illegal drugs by providing any information about any suspicious or illegal activity.

"The intercept was an outstanding result and goes a long way in removing illegal drugs from circulation in small rural communities," Plain Clothes Senior Constable Doyle said.

Detectives also located and seized a category R silencer after executing a search warrant in Texas in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A 28-year-old Texas man was issued a Notice to Appear for August 8.
