In January 2019 officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command commenced Strike Force Bernardo, an ongoing investigation into criminal activity within public housing estates in the Surry Hills area.
About 10am (Thursday 18 April 2019), police searched three units in a housing estate complex on Belvoir Street resulting in the seizure of drugs and prohibited weapons.
In the first unit officers allegedly located prohibited weapons, an amount of drugs and an electronic bicycle.
The 53-year-old male occupant was arrested and charged with drug possession, possess prohibited weapon, and goods in custody.
He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 19 April 2019).
A 48-year-old man was arrested during a search of the second unit. He was charged with armed with intent and resist arrest after allegedly coming at police with a metal pole.
He was also refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local court today.
A 38-year-old woman was issued with a cannabis caution during a search of the third unit.
Police will continue to target drug use, possession and distribution with their command.
