Police seize drugs during raids in Melbourne's north

Police have arrested four men following a number of warrants where drugs and firearms were seized in Melbourne’s northern suburbs yesterday, Victoria Police say.

Fawkner Divisional Response Unit officers, with assistance from Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit (CIU), Tasking Unit and Drugs Taskforce, as well as detectives at Moreland CIU executed eight search warrants at residential addresses.

Suburbs targeted included Broadmeadows, Westmeadows, Craigieburn and Glenroy.

Police seized a large amount of drugs including alleged quantities of what is understood to be methamphetamine, cocaine, opium, steroids and MDMA.

Officers also seized weapons and a large amount of cash.

A 33-year-old and 37-year-old were arrested at an address in Broadmeadows and charged with the following:

-Trafficking a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine

-Trafficking a commercial quantity of cocaine

They both appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today and have been further remanded to appear again on Xx new court date Xx

Two others, a 37-year-old and a 49-year-old, were arrested in Glenroy and charged with trafficking methylamphetamine, ecstasy and steroids.

They were both bailed to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 5 April 2019.
