Police seize stolen motorbike - Warilla

Police have recovered a stolen motorbike with the assistance of the community in Wollongong yesterday.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District had received several reports from a community source that a loud, unregistered motorbike was being driven down a street in Warilla during the day and night.

About 9.15pm (Monday 23 December 2019), police from the Lake Illawarra Proactive Crime Team attended a home on Ponsford Street, where they found an unregistered Yamaha motorcycle with an altered number plate.

Following inquiries, officers discovered the bike had been stolen from Wollongong in August. They began an investigation and seized the motorbike and a helmet, which will undergo forensic testing.

Investigations are continuing.

Police would like to thank the community for their assistance.
