Police shooting at Oxley

Police are investigating a series of incidents in Oxley this afternoon which has resulted in a man being shot by police.

At 2pm, police responded to a traffic crash along Oxley Station Road. One of the drivers left the scene on foot, allegedly armed with a knife.

Police responded quickly and sighted the armed man, who ran towards police with the knife before being shot.

Police rendered first aid immediately and the man has now been transported to hospital in a critical condition.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have CCTV of the area to please contact them.

The matter will be subject to investigations by Ethical Standards Command with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Investigations are continuing.
