Police have charged a man following investigations into a fatal traffic crash in Bushland Beach on 23 November 2025.
Police were called to the roundabout at Mount Low Parkway at 6.08pm regarding reports a white Mazda utility had collided with a silver BMW motorcycle and a green Kawasaki motorcycle.
It will be alleged that the driver of the Mazda, a 28-year-old Mount Low man, drove at speed under the influence of liquor as he entered the roundabout and lost control before colliding with the two motorcycles.
The BMW rider, a 76-year-old South Townsville man, was treated by emergency services but declared deceased at the scene.
The BMW passenger, a 70-year-old South Townsville woman, was transported to Townsville University Hospital with serious injuries.
The Kawasaki rider, a 22-year-old Aitkenvale man, was also transported to Townsville University Hospital with minor injuries.
The Mazda driver, a 28-year-old Mount Low man has since been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and grievous bodily harm whilst adversely affected, driving of a motor vehicle without a driver's licence, vehicle used on roads must be registered, drive uninsured vehicle and did drive under influence of liquor.
He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on 18 February.
