Police update 1: Homicide investigation at Biggenden

Detectives investigating the deaths of a man and girl in a shed fire at Biggenden last week have launched a homicide investigation under Operation Uniform Belisama.

Officers were called to reports of a fire at the Fenwicks Road property around 12.20pm,Tuesday December 20 with preliminary investigations identifying human remains in the shed.

Investigators believe the remains to be that of 54-year-old Todd Mooney and his 10-year-old daughter Kirra, who resided at the property.

A crime scene was declared and following scientific examination, investigators believe the fire to be deliberately lit.

State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers have attended the scene today to conduct a search on a neighbouring paddock while detectives continue their enquiries.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage in the area at the time is urged to contact police.
