Police are treating a house fire at Harristown earlier this morning, May 7, as suspicious.
Emergency services were called to the Merritt Street property at approximately 12.30am finding it engulfed by flames.
Following a search of the property, a body believed to be of a nine-year-boy was discovered inside, however formal identification is yet to be completed.
Six other people were able to escape the fire, including a 36-year-old woman, a 34-year-old man and four children aged four, seven, 11 and 18.
A 36-year-old woman was airlifted to Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital with serious injuries where she remains in a critical condition under police guard.
A 34-year-old man was taken to Toowoomba Base Hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a stable condition.
A four-year-old girl and seven-year-old girl were airlifted to the Queensland Children's Hospital where they remain in a critical condition.
An 18-year-old man was taken to Toowoomba Base Hospital where he has been treated for non-life threatening injuries.
An 11-year-old boy was uninjured.
The house remains a crime scene and is currently being forensically examined as part of Operation Xray Paxton with assistance from the homicide investigation unit.
At this time, police are not looking for anyone else in connection to this incident.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, and police are appealing to anyone who may have information or relevant vision to come forward.
