Police Update 1: Police Involved Shooting, Wynnum West

Police have charged a man with attempted murder and arson following an incident in Wynnum West on 9 September.

Around 9:20am, police were called to a house on Cabanda Street following reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, an interaction occurred between a 39-year-old Wynnum West man and officers, as a result he was shot by police.

Medical assistance was immediately rendered.

The man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

No police officers or members of the public were injured during the incident.

The Wynnum West man remains in a stable condition and has now been charged with one count each of attempted murder and arson.

He is expected to face a bedside hearing today, 11 September.

The Ethical Standards Command is continuing to investigate the incident with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
