Police Update 2: Fatal Traffic Crash, Glen Aplin

An 85-year-old woman has passed away in hospital following a fatal traffic crash at Glen Aplin, south of Stanthorpe on 9 May.

About 1.50pm, a blue MG ZS SUV was travelling south on New England Highway when the driver took evasive action to avoid a collision with a gold Nissan Maxima travelling in the opposite direction on the incorrect side of the road.

The vehicles did not collide however the MG struck a culvert on the side of the road, rolling several times before striking a power pole.

One of the passengers in the MG, a 92-year-old Wallangarra man, was declared deceased at the scene on 9 May.

The other passenger, an 85-year-old Wallangarra woman was transported to hospital however, passed away as a result of her injuries today, 20 May.

Investigations are ongoing.
