Police update 2: Homicide investigation, Railway Estate

Police have charged a 37-year-old Beach Holm man over the alleged murder of a 39-year-old Aurukun man at Railway Estate in Townsville on July 12.

It will be alleged shortly after 4.30am, the Beach Holm man and a woman entered an Eleventh Avenue address and seriously assaulted the man before leaving in a vehicle.

Upon arrival, emergency crews located the 39-year-old unconscious with critical injuries, including a stab wound to his chest.

He was declared deceased at the scene a short time later.

The property was immediately declared a crime scene with investigators launching Operation Victor Madrox into the alleged homicide.

Yesterday, July 18, detectives from Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch arrested a 37-year-old Beach Holm man at Aitkenvale.

He has been charged with one count each of murder, enter dwelling with intent at night in company, threatening violence and deprivation of liberty.

He is due to appear at Townsville Magistrates Court this morning, July 19.

A 32-year-old Jensen woman was charged on Monday with the same offences and will re-appear at the Townsville Magistrates Court on October 13.
