Rockhampton CIB detectives with assistance from Hervey Bay CIB, have charged a 27-year-old Victorian man following investigations into an alleged sexual assault at The Range on Sunday, 25 January.
About 10.30am, a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man in the vicinity of Yeppen Lagoon.
The matter was reported to police about 11am and the woman was taken to hospital, where she is receiving medical treatment and professional support.
Subsequently, investigations led to the declaration of a crime scene later that day in Yeppen Lagoon's north in the vicinity of a walking track adjacent to the nearby rugby field's car park.
Police investigations led to the location and arrest of the 27-year-old Victorian man at Boat Harbour Drive, Hervey Bay about11am yesterday, 26 January.
He has since been charged with three counts of rape and one count of attempted murder.
His bail has been refused and he is expected to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today, 27 January.
Investigators are continuing to appeal for information, particularly information or vision of a dark blue 2008 Toyota two door hatchback from the Yeppen Lagoon area around the time of the alleged offence.
