Police Update 3: Armed Robbery, Chermside

Detectives have charged five men and a teenage boy in relation to the alleged armed robbery of a Chermside business last month.

On Tuesday, June 10, shortly after 5pm, it will be alleged a group armed with hammers, metal bars and wearing masks, entered a Gympie Road jewellery store.

It is further alleged the group then smashed a number of glass cabinets and stole a large amount of jewellery before leaving in a grey Honda CR-V station wagon with QLD registration 495ZJW.

The Honda was allegedly stolen from an Alfred Circuit address at Calamvale on Sunday, June 8.

A 38-year-old male employee, who was working at the time, was allegedly struck in the head with a hammer during the incident.

He was treated in Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital for serious head and facial injuries.

On 19 June, police recovered the Honda near the intersection of Aquatic Street and Weir Close in Berrinba.

Following extensive investigations, between 11 June and 15 July, detectives conducted search warrants on a number of vehicles and addresses across Brisbane and Logan, which they will allege resulted in the seizure of items which they will allege were linked to the offence.

A 25-year-old man from Carseldine and a 22-year-old man from Goodna were intercepted in a vehicle at Spring Hill on Tuesday night and taken into custody.

The 25-year-old has been charged with accessory after the fact, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery, enter premises to with intent and, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and endangering child by exposure.

Detectives have located a further three men who have also been charged over the alleged incident at Chermside.

A 25-year-old man from Goodna, a 29-year-old man from Inala and a 20-year-old man from Loganlea.

The four other men have been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery, enter premises to with intent and, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and endangering child by exposure.

All men have had their bail strongly objected to by police and matters heard in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon, 16 July.

A 16-year-old boy has also been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, endangering child by exposure, serious drug offences and property offences.

The boy appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon, 16 July.

Investigations are continuing into the matter with detectives appealing for information into the whereabouts of a 21-year-old man (pictured) from Mount Gravatt, known to frequent the Logan and Inala areas, who they'd like to speak to or anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing into a potential link to an armed robbery in Lutwyche a month earlier, on Thursday, 8 May.

These investigations are ongoing, and detectives continue to appeal for any information or CCTV which may assist.

North Brisbane District Criminal Investigation Branch Officer in Charge, Detective Senior Sergeant Ken Rogers, says detectives have been working day and night to identify and apprehend the alleged offenders.

"It was our top priority to identify and apprehend these alleged offenders as soon as possible to keep out community safe," Detective Rogers said.

"Detectives have been working tirelessly to get us to today's result and we are committed to continue working around the clock until all alleged offenders have been held to account."

Investigators are in direct contact with the victims, ensuring they receive the necessary support throughout this process.
