Police update 3: Serious injury crash, Sunnybank Hills

A 19-year-old Kingston man has been charged with the alleged theft of a Lexus believed involved in a serious traffic crash in Sunnybank Hills on February 7.

Police will allege the man attended a Pioneer Drive address just before 3pm and removed car keys for the car and other personal items from the address belonging to the residents - a 58-year-old woman and 68-year-old man.

It will further be alleged he stole the Lexus from the garage and later used the couple's credit cards at a service station at Forestdale.

He has been charged with burglary and commit an indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and receiving tainted property.

He appeared in the Richlands Magistrates Court yesterday where he was remanded in custody.

A 14-year-old Cherbourg boy has also been charged with the unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Police believe the pair were linked to a group involved in a series of offences prior to and after the crash across Logan, South Brisbane and Ipswich.

A 17-year-old girl remains in hospital in a critical condition as a result of the crash.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

Investigations into the series of offences allegedly committed by the group are ongoing.
