Police update 4: Search operation, Southport

A search operation underway for a 54-year-old man who went missing in waters off Southport on Sunday will be scaled back.

Police have been coordinating an air and sea search for Anthony Schilperoort after his jetski was found drifting 13kms east of the Southport seaway on Sunday afternoon.

Despite extensive search efforts, crews have been unable to locate any sign of the man.

Water Police will continue to conduct patrols across the coast.

The man's family has been notified and police would like to thank all agencies and members of the community for their assistance.

Police would particularly like to acknowledge the assistance provided by volunteer agencies including Volunteer Marine Rescue, Australian Volunteer Coastguard and Surf Lifesaving Queensland.
