Police update: Armed robbery and unlawful use of motor vehicle charges, Rockhampton to Emerald region

Central Queensland detectives have charged a man after the alleged theft of multiple vehicles which were then driven dangerously throughout the region this week.

Around 10am on February 9 police will allege a 1993 Toyota Landcruiser was used to evade police in Ironpot.

It will be further alleged the vehicle was driven dangerously through Gracemere, before it was abandoned.

It's alleged a Ford utility was also stolen, which was then driven to Sapphire.

The man allegedly threatened a 37-year-old woman for her red hatchback which was located in Anakie Siding.

Around 2pm it will also be alleged the man stole an Izuzu wagon and drove it dangerously along the Capricorn Highway, where the driver again avoided police efforts to intercept him.

He is alleged to have assaulted a 73-year-old man and stole his Ford SUV which was driven into Emerald where it collided with a Hyundai hatchback and continued driving.

After allegedly carrying out further vehicle thefts and assaults, the man was arrested in the Emerald region.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with 35 offences.

They include 10 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, eight counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of armed robbery, two counts each of deprivation of liberty, evade police, wilful damage and stealing and one count each of obstruct a police officer, attempted armed robbery, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, assault, enter premises with intent and trespass.

He is scheduled to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today (February 11).
