Police update: Armed robbery, Newport

A 17-year-old boy has been charged following investigations into the alleged armed robbery of an elderly man in Newport this week.

On Monday, a 75-year-old man disturbed the teenager allegedly searching through his home on Defender Street around 4.40pm.

The boy was arrested in Maryborough and charged with serious assault, armed robbery, enter dwelling with intent, trespass, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving without a licence and stealing.
