Police Update: Grievous Bodily Harm Charges, Stapylton

Police have charged a second man following an incident where a man was thrown from a building at Stapylton on 9 August.

It will be alleged around 1pm, three people attended a Stapylton residence where they were involved in a disturbance with the 52-year-old male resident who was thrown from a first-floor veranda onto the ground below.

The man was allegedly further assaulted while on the ground, before the group fled in a Volkswagen van.

The 52-year-old man sustained serious spinal injuries requiring surgery.

It is alleged that members of the group had purchased a 2013 Nissan Pulsar from the victim three days prior and had attended the address demanding a refund.

Following further investigations, detectives yesterday charged a 33-year-old Forest Lake man with one count each of grievous bodily harm and common assault.

It follows the arrest of arrest of a 40-year-old Lockrose man on 14 August, who was subsequently charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company.

Both men are due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 17 September.

Investigations are continuing.
