Police update: Indecent behaviour, Sunnybank Hills

Detectives have charged a man for a series of sexual assaults in the Sunnybank area over the last year.

It will be alleged on January 21 of this year a woman was walking alone at around 11.25pm on Mains Road near the intersection of Pristina Street at Sunnybank when a man approached her from behind and held her before he indecently touched her.

The woman tried to break free but was unsuccessful before she screamed loudly. The man then ran off along Pristina Street away from Mains Road. The woman was not physically injured as a result of the incident.

Today police arrested a 47-year-old Browns Plains man and he has been charged with eight counts of sexual assault, two counts of deprivation of liberty, three counts of common assault and one count each of attempted sexual assault and indecent act in a public place.

Police will allege the offences occurred in Sunnybank, Sunnybank Hills and Upper Mount Gravatt between February 2020 and January 21 of this year.

The man will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, June 9.

Detectives continue to appeal for anyone with further information to make contact with police.
