Police update: Remains found in Katherine

Northern Territory Police have concluded their investigations into the remains found north of Katherine earlier this week.

Katherine police have worked closely with Heritage Officers, and the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority and other specialist teams have been heavily involved.

Acting Commander Kirsten Engels said, "Investigations indicate these remains derive from a historic traditional burial, and as such our role can be concluded.

"Police would like to thank all of the government agencies and organisations that assisted."
