Police update: Robbery with violence at Rockhampton

Police investigating a violent robbery during which a man's car was allegedly stolen on January 20, have charged a man.

Around 2am, a man was seated in his parked silver 2009 Toyota Aurion in Kern Arcade when he was allegedly approached by a man who opened the vehicle door and attempted to remove him from the vehicle.

It will further be alleged a struggle ensued resulting in the driver being threatened with a knife before he fled from his vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was driven from the scene but located by police burnt out in the Gladstone area at around 6am.

The 76-year-old driver of the vehicle received minor injuries only as a result of the incident.

A 21-year-old Gracemere man has been charged with armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary, possession of a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia.

He will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
