Police update: Search for missing kayaker at Alberton

The body of a man has been located in Logan River this morning, where a search for a missing kayaker had been undertaken since last Saturday (August 22).

Around 5.30am today a fisherman alerted authorities to a body in the water which has been recovered.

Police had previously launched a multi-agency sea and air search to locate a 26-year-old man who was onboard a two-person kayak that overturned throwing both occupants into the water in the Logan river around 12.10pm last Saturday.

A 27-year-old Woodridge man was located at the time and taken ashore with no serious injuries and a search was commence for the 26-year-old man who failed to surface.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
