Police have taken a man into custody as part of investigations into a reported sexual assault in The Range yesterday morning, 25 January.
At approximately 10.30am, a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man in the vicinity of Yeppen Lagoon.
The matter was reported to police at 11am and the woman was taken to hospital, where she is receiving medical treatment and professional support.
Subsequently, investigations led to the declaration of a crime scene later that day in Yeppen Lagoon's north in the vicinity of a walking track adjacent the nearby rugby field's car park.
Police investigations led to the location and arrest of a 27-year-old Victorian man at Boat Harbour Drive in Hervey Bay at approximately 11am today, 26 January.
The man is currently assisting police with enquiries.
Police believe there is no further risk to community safety.
Investigators continue to appeal for any person who may have been on the walking track before or after 10.30am, or who was in the vicinity of this area at the time or have CCTV or dashcam from nearby roads to contact police immediately.
Police are particularly interested in receiving information or vision of a blue 2008 Toyota sedan from the Yeppen Lagoon area around the time of the alleged offence.
