Police update: Suspicious death investigation, Benowa

Detectives from Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit have charged a 48-year-old man with murder, in relation to the death of Tomislav Nemes at Benowa.

Police located Mr Nemes' remains in an Edinburgh Street home during a welfare check on April 17.

A crime scene was declared, and Operation Victor Countryside established to investigate the circumstances of his death.

Following extensive investigations, a 48-year-old man was yesterday, August 22, taken into custody at Southport and charged with one count of murder.

He is expected to appear before Southport Magistrates Court today, August 23.

Detectives have released vision of the April 17 welfare check in an appeal to the public for any information which could assist the investigation.

Police urge any friends, family or associates of Mr Nemes or the other occupants at the property, along with anyone who has visited his home in recent years, to come forward.

Investigations remain ongoing.
