Police update: Wounding, Hermit Park

Detectives have charged an 18-year-old man in relation to the alleged attempted robbery and wounding of a taxi driver at Hermit Park last week.

Around 3:20am on September 22 it is alleged the 69-year-old taxi driver was located with a stab wound after a man armed with a bladed weapon attempted to rob him.

He was transported to the Townsville University Hospital with serious injuries.

An 18-year-old man from Kirwan has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, attempted robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, attempted enter premises with intent, possessing a dangerous drug and four counts each of stealing and four counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
