Police vehicle hit by drunk driver

A probationary driver was found to be more than three times over the limit after he crashed into a parked police vehicle at Geelong railway station early this morning.

Protective Services Officers who were patrolling the station at the time, heard the crash before flagging down the motorist who tried to drive away about 12.50am.

The 22-year-old Portland man was spoken to by PSOs before police officers attended and conducted a preliminary breath test.

The man accompanied police back to a police station for an evidentiary breath test where he furnished a reading of .170.

The man's licence was immediately suspended, and it is expected he will be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic related offences.
