Police vehicle rammed, driver arrested in Invermay

A 27-year-old Mowbray man has been arrested following an incident in Invermay in which a police vehicle was rammed shortly before 3pm today (November 10, 2019).

The driver of a green Mitsubishi triton 4WD utility had evaded police in Forster St near Holbrook St. A number of police units attended the scene and one police vehicle was rammed.

Capsicum spray was deployed into the vehicle and the driver taken into custody.

The male Constable driving the police vehicle was not physically injured in the incident but the police vehicle was extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

The Mowbray man was arrested and investigations are continuing into numerous alleged offences, including motor vehicle stealing, attempted motor vehicle stealing, traffic offences and stealing matters.

It is expected he will be charged and will face the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.
