Police are appealing for information after recent investigations suggest that a fire at a school in Seaforth last month was deliberately lit, NSW Police said.
About 10pm on Sunday 13 September 2015, emergency services were called to a public school on Kempbridge Avenue, Seaforth, following reports of a fire.
Police from Northern Beaches Local Area Command attended and assisted Fire & Rescue NSW as they extinguished the blaze.
The fire caused significant damage to three demountable classrooms and a storage shed. No one was injured during the incident.
A crime scene was established, and was examined by specialist forensic officers.
Acting on recent information supplied to police, investigators now believe that the fire was deliberately lit and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Northern Beaches Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Craig Wonders said that recent information supplied to police has helped the investigation.
“Our investigators have received recent information from the public, and we are hoping it leads to a significant breakthrough in the investigation.”
“We now believe that the fire was deliberately lit and we are urging those involved to come forward and hand themselves in.”
