Popular South Morang reserve to be revitalised

South Morang residents will soon enjoy a new-look park and playground, with an impressive redevelopment of Riverside Reserve starting next month.

The Council upgrade will transform the park into a modern and welcoming space for people of all ages, with the installation of state-of-the-art play and fitness equipment, flying fox, basketball half court and connected walking paths.

The new shelter, barbecue and picnic settings will create the perfect place for friends and family to socialise, creating opportunities to connect outdoors as we lead into the warmer months.

City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said that the redevelopment of Riverside Reserve was testament to Council's commitment to creating premium open spaces that support residents to get active and connect with their community.

"Now more than ever, the benefits of connecting with friends and neighbours outdoors are invaluable," Ms Wilson said.

"The redevelopment of Riverside Reserve will help locals to exercise and socialise close to home, while enjoying the City's picturesque landscape."

The upgrade to Riverside Reserve is expected to start in September and will take approximately four months to complete.

This project will be delivered by the City of Whittlesea, with the support of the Victorian Government's Parks Revitalisation Grants Program, giving existing local parks new life.
