PORT catch man speeding on Westgate Freeway

Members from the Public Order Response Team (PORT) intercepted a man allegedly driving 80km/h over the speed on the Westgate Freeway last night.

Officers were on patrol when they observed a white Subaru allegedly weaving through traffic at a high speed about 9pm.

At one stage, they allegedly clocked him travelling 120hm/h in the marked 40km/h zone.

Police quickly intercepted the car on Todd Road and requested to breath test the driver, but he allegedly refused and demanded a blood test.

The man was taken back to a local station for blood testing but allegedly refused again.

The 34-year-old Bundoora man had car impounded at a cost of $869.10 and is expected to be charged on summons with drive speed manner dangerous, conduct endangering life, refuse preliminary breath test and refuse evidentiary breath test.
