Bayside Council is coordinating a series of community education events in partnership with key community stakeholders to provide older residents, carers, families and community members with information that supports informed decision-making, independence, wellbeing and future planning.
In collaboration with Advance Diversity Services, Sydney Community Forum and Junction Neighbourhood Centre, Council will deliver an information program highlighting the importance of My Aged Care in helping older residents access aged care services, navigate the aged care system, and remain independent and connected within the community.
My Aged Care is the Australian Government's entry point for accessing aged care support. However, the system can be challenging to navigate, particularly for people with limited digital skills, low confidence using technology, language barriers, or limited support networks.
Council has also partnered with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District to deliver information sessions on care during the last 12 months of life. These sessions aim to encourage respectful and meaningful conversations about planning, support, caregiving and end-of-life experiences within our community.
