Possible Dangerous Flash Flooding for Central Coast

The NSW SES is encouraging all residents and visitors to the Central Coast to prepare for more heavy rain and possible dangerous flash flooding that may develop this afternoon and into tomorrow.

The high winds and heavy rain experienced on the Central Coast this week resulted in 441 requests for assistance to the NSW SES Gosford and Wyong Units who have made safe properties damaged by the severe weather.

NSW SES volunteers have also conducted 10 flood rescues on the Central Coast area, where motorists have driven into flood water.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) is predicting more heavy rain and possible dangerous flash flooding for the Central Coast starting again this afternoon (Saturday) and increasing throughout tonight and into tomorrow.

There are a number of severe weather warnings current for the Central Coast and this morning a minor flood warning for Tuggerah Lake was issued for Tuggerah Lake at Long Jetty to reach minor flood levels late this afternoon.

NSW SES Incident Controller, Robyn Barco said, "We are advising people on the Central Coast to exercise extreme caution over the next 24 hour period because of the potential for deep and fast flowing flash flooding over the next period. We are asking residents not to drive, walk or ride through any flood waters and to closely monitor the situation over today and tomorrow."

For emergency storm and flood assistance call NSW SES on 132500 and in life threatening emergencies call triple zero.
