A vibrant, family-friendly Pride celebration will be held at Ted Mack Civic Park on Sunday 1 June, from 3pm to 6pm. The event features live music, drag performances and powerful projections that honour local queer history.
Reflecting Pride Month 2025's theme of "Love, Respect, Empower", the Pride Picnic aims to unite the community for an inclusive afternoon of fun. This free event will also offer food trucks, kid's activities, face painting for all ages and a rainbow dog competition. Pups are encouraged to wear Pride-themed outfits.
As daylight fades, the event will end with a tribute to North Sydney's queer history. For one night only, local queer stories from the Mapping Queer North Sydney project will be projected onto the walls of Stanton Library.
The Mapping Queer North Sydney initiative, developed over the past two years, has uncovered and digitised the diverse histories of the LGBTQIA+ community across North Sydney. This collection forms a rich and intimate archive of the people, places and experiences that shape the area's queer identity.
Throughout June, Council Chambers and Stanton Library will also be lit in rainbow colours to show support for Pride Month.
North Sydney Mayor Zoë Baker said the Pride Picnic shows the Council's commitment to inclusivity and representation.
"This event is more than a celebration - it's about visibility, storytelling and honouring the ongoing contributions of our LGBTQIA+ community in North Sydney."
Hosted by North Sydney Council to celebrate Pride Month, the Pride Picnic is free and open to everyone. Bring a picnic rug and invite your friends and family to join in with pride.
