Probe Ongoing After Assault, Kidnapping in Orange

Detectives continue an investigation following the alleged assault and kidnapping of a man in the state's central west in May.

About 1.30am on Thursday 15 May 2025, a 54-year-old man was sitting inside his sedan on Maxwell Avenue, Orange, when he was approached by three men.

Police were told the group threatened the man with a knife before they assaulted him and forced him in the back seat of the car.

The group entered the car and drove towards Wellington on Burrendong Way, before forcing the man to exit the car at Euchareena and driving off.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to hospital for further treatment. He has since been discharged.

About 6am the same day, emergency services were called to Nanima Mission, Wellington, following reports of the sedan well alight.

NSW Fire and Rescue officers extinguished the blaze; however, it was destroyed.

Officers attached to Central West Police District have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incidents under Strike Force Collingwood.

Following inquiries, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Currong Crescent, Orange, where multiple electronic items were located and seized.

A 43-year-old woman was arrested and charged and remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, just after 10am yesterday (Wednesday 31 July 2025), detectives executed two search warrants at homes in Wellington, where a Nissan Navara and an internet router were seized.

Inquiries are continuing.
