Progress On Kangaroo Bay Development Welcomed

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government welcomes Chambroad Australia's latest submission to the Tasmanian Planning Commission.

Chambroad's proposed 155-room hotel Kangaroo Bay hotel would create hundreds of new jobs, acting as a catalyst for Hobart's eastern shore.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said this $65 million development will be a huge win for the entire community.

"A 155-room hotel on the eastern shore of Hobart will be a complete gamechanger," Premier Rockliff said.

"Up to 100 construction jobs expected, and more than 400 operational roles once up and running will inject hundreds of millions in economic activity into our southern economy.

"It will include conference space, public amenity and hospitality options, breathing life into what is an otherwise vacant bit of dirt begging for development.

"Tasmania is entering a new era of opportunity. We have the highest business confidence in the nation, and we are backing developments just like this to tell the world we're open for business."
