Property Council Hails New Federal Liberal Leader, Deputy

The Property Council of Australia today congratulated Sussan Ley and Ted O'Brien on their elections as Leader and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party.

Property Council Chief Executive Mike Zorbas said the organisation looks forward to working with the new leaders.

"We congratulate Sussan Ley on her election," he said.

"Ms Ley has a long history of engaging thoughtfully with the property sector and has a good understanding of the policies that can promote the sustainable and prosperous growth of our cities.

"We also congratulate Ted O'Brien on his election as Deputy Leader, and we look forward to continuing to engage with the Opposition on important policy issues during this parliament.

"The property sector is the second largest employer in Australia, and ensuring a productive property industry is critically important to the prosperity of our nation."

Mr Zorbas also said that, between greater efficiencies across the Foreign Investment Review Board, Australian Prudential Regulation Authority and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, through to improving environmental approvals and industrial relations in the construction sector, there is a rich opportunity for the alternative government to produce policies that boost investment productivity.
