The Property Council of Australia's SA Division congratulates the Malinauskas Government on securing the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) for a world-first city-centre street circuit in the heart of Adelaide's CBD, beginning in 2027.
The landmark announcement marks a major milestone for South Australia's events calendar and economic activation, reinforcing Adelaide's growing reputation for marquee events on the world stage.
Property Council Executive Director Bruce Djite said that it was a welcome activation of the Adelaide CBD, which builds on the confirmed 2028 move of LIV Golf to North Adelaide.
"Bringing MotoGP to the heart of the Adelaide CBD is a big win for our city and the state of South Australia. This event will energise and add great vibrancy to our city and reinforces the fact that across the national and international stage, Adelaide is a city, which hosts world-class events," Mr Djite said.
"The Property Council welcomes this announcement and alongside other State Government announcements such as the Airport Heights Code Amendment, $500M apartment pre-sales guarantee fund (election commitment), the ongoing hosting of the AFL's Gather Round, and LIV Golf's move to North Adelaide - it reflects a coordinated and coherent city-shaping strategy to bring year-round economic activity and vibrancy to the state's economic heartbeat.
"Collectively these announcements are reshaping Adelaide's urban landscape and economic momentum."
Mr Djite said that these flagship events also support the broader Adelaide economy, increasing spending across retail, hospitality and dining precincts.
"Events like the MotoGP supports retailers, hotels, hospitality and dining precincts, moreover these events significantly improve the state's brand, supporting capital and talent attraction, which brings long term confidence and exposure to our state."
