Police have charged three people after intercepting a stolen vehicle in Garbutt yesterday.
Around 10.35am, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device in Mount Louisa with the Ford Ranger stopping on Greg Jabs Drive. The vehicle then caught fire, with the cause of the fire not determined at this time.
Police believe four offenders fled from the vehicle. Three people were located in the vicinity and taken into custody a short time later.
The orange Ford Ranger was reported stolen from Cottesmore Crescent at Castle Hill yesterday, 4 August.
An 18-year-old Townsville City woman was charged with three counts of stealing and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today.
A 17-year-old Wulguru male was charged with eight counts of enter dwelling with intent, five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and four counts of enter dwelling and commit, and one count each of stealing, trespass, and possess drugs. He is due to appear in Townsville Childrens Court today.
A 16-year-old Pimlico male was charged with 10 counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts each of enter dwelling with intent and stealing and two counts of attempted enter dwelling with intent. He is due to appear in Townsville Childrens Court today.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with dashcam vision of the orange Ford Ranger in the vicinity of Greg Jabs Drive around 10.30am yesterday is urged to contact police.
