Police lay charges over property offences in Darwin

Officers from Strike Force Trident have charged two men over separate incidents in Darwin.

Sometime after 9pm on 17 January 2021, a vehicle was broken into in Tiwi and credit cards were stolen.

A 35-year-old came into possession of the credit cards and allegedly made a number of purchases.

He was charged with three counts of obtain benefit by deception. He was issued with a Notice to Appear in Darwin Local Court on 24 February 2021.

In an unrelated incident in September 2020, a unit complex in the Darwin CBD was unlawfully entered and a significant amount of property was stolen including two vehicles which have since been recovered.

Following extensive investigations, police arrested a 34-year-old man.

He was charged with:

  • 1 X trespass
  • 3 X stealing
  • 2 X unlawfully use a motor vehicle

He was issued with a Notice to Appear in Darwin Local Court on 2 March 2021.
