The following statement is attributable to City of Ballarat CEO Evan King -
Today, I have informed City of Ballarat staff and Councillors of a proposed organisational realignment.
This proposed realignment will align our organisational structure to the strategic objectives outlined in our new Council Plan 2021-2025 while also better positioning our organisation with industry and stakeholder requirements.
The primary purpose of this proposed organisational realignment is to create an organisation that is better equipped to deliver on our Council's commitments and the community's expectations. There is no intent to reduce staff numbers.
This will ensure our teams are aligned to the strategic objectives listed under the six goals outlined in the Council Plan -
Goal 1 - An environmentally sustainable future
Goal 2 - A healthy, connected and inclusive community
Goal 3 - A city that fosters sustainable growth
Goal 4 - A city that conserves and enhances our natural and built assets
Goal 5 - A strong and innovative economy and city
Goal 6 - A council that provides leadership and advocates for its community.

Prior to making a final decision on the proposed changes, the City of Ballarat will invite staff to provide comments and suggestions on the proposed realignment. We will also consult with unions throughout this process. We will announce the new structure to staff, Councillors and the community on Monday 6 December.
I appreciate the organisation has experienced many changes and challenges in the past two years. However, this is an opportunity to better align our structure with our strategic objectives and goals.
I am exceptionally proud of the Council Plan 2021-2025. Now that the Council Plan has been formally adopted, the next challenge is to deliver on that plan. It is important that we place the organisation in the best possible position to ensure we can effectively deliver on our community's vision and priorities that came out of the extensive Ballarat Our Future community engagement process.
I want to take this opportunity to thank staff for their ongoing support.
I am confident that this proposed structural realignment will deliver greater long-term benefits for all staff and equip us to be better prepared to respond to our community's needs.
