Providing Food Relief For Regions

Tasmanian Government

A program addressing food insecurity in the Kentish municipality has received a boost.

Minister for Community Services, Roger Jaensch, said Glenhaven Care, through Kentish House, is one of 55 community organisations receiving funding to provide food relief directly to the community.

"The Tasmanian Community Food Relief Grants Program 2025 will distribute almost $490,000 to local food relief providers across Tasmania this year, as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future commitment to maintain emergency food relief," Minister Jaensch said.

"Kentish House create hampers for individuals and families in need, including specialised foods for those with dietary requirements.

"This contribution will allow at least 80 hampers to be created for those in need.

"Funding will also support purchasing ingredients to create ready-to-eat meals for community members in need.

"The program depends on a dedicated team of volunteers for meal preparation, packaging, and distribution. This Volunteer Week, I'd also like to acknowledge their hard work, which has great community benefits.

The Tasmanian Community Food Relief Grants Program 2025 is part of a suite of Tasmanian Government's commitments to help Tasmanians access emergency food.

The 2025-26 Budget will include $7 million to support emergency food relief programs across the State, while also looking to food resilience in the future.
