Students, teachers and families at Balwyn Primary School are set to benefit under a new commitment announced today by the Victorian Liberals.
A Matt Guy Liberal Government will provide $6.1 million for the development of a school masterplan and Stage 1 upgrades including:
- new classrooms to make better use of the school grounds;
- much needed toilet facilities;
- staff facilities to allow for greater collaboration; and
- sick bay facilities within an expanded health centre.
The number of students enrolled at the school has almost doubled over the past decade, and facilities have not been upgraded to reflect these increased numbers.
Shadow Minister for Education, David Hodgett, said the Liberals were committed to supporting students with strong investments for their future.
"With so many families moving into the area and demand for Balwyn Primary School increasing, this is a necessary and sensible commitment and needs to be done urgently."
Liberal Candidate for Kew, Jess Wilson, said this announcement gives students and teachers access to the very best facilities.
"This upgrade is a serious boost for Balwyn Primary School and is a real solution for the school community."
