PSPA declared in Mount Isa, QLD

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act in relation to an incident in Mount Isa.

A declaration was made just before 2.20 pm and encompasses a 3 km area within the boundaries of Milne Bay Road, and the Barclay Highway.

Police have evacuated the May Down Station and the Mount Isa Airport has also been closed as a result. The Barclay Highway is closed, north from Owen Stanley Road to Moondarra Drive.

Police are asking people within the exclusion zone to self-evacuate and to immediately attend the intersection Barclay Highway and Milne Bay Road.
