PSPA revoked, Cypress Gardens

Police have revoked an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in relation to a dangerous bush fire burning in the vicinity of Cypress Gardens.

The declaration was revoked at 4:01pm on December 5 after emergency services contained the fire.

The PSPA was invoked at 4:42pm on December 4 and the declared zone included Groszman Road to the west, Cypress Avenue to the south and along Nine Mile Road to Antonio Road to the north..

Local residents have been permitted to return home.

There is significant smoke hazard in the area and people should reconsider the need to travel to area at this time.
