Public appeal: Attempted robbery and assault occasioning bodily harm, Helensvale

Police have released vision of a man as part of the investigation into the attempted robbery and serious assault of a woman at Helensvale on Wednesday March 16.

Around 7.20am, a 39-year-old Ormeau woman was walking along Town Centre Drive when a man riding a grey electric scooter came up behind her and grabbed her handbag.

The woman resisted by holding onto the bag and the man dragged the woman to the ground where he repeatedly kicked and stomped her head.

The man fled when a passing vehicle stopped to intervene. He was last seen riding the e-scooter eastbound on Brisbane Road.

The woman sustained lacerations, bruising and swelling to her head, face and arms. She was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Investigations continue.
